The Beverly Shores Environmental  Restoration Group

The Environmental Restoration Group takes action to re-establish environmental balance in our community.

We believe we have a responsibility to nurture our unique natural environment in the Indiana dunes

The dunes ecology is threatened by expansion of animal species whose natural checks have been eliminated, and many invasive plant species that threaten to replace much of our native plant diversity with plant monocultures. We believe we have a responsibility to nurture our unique natural environment in the Indiana dunes.

We work to control invasives

Our projects include our long-term programs to monitor and control the deer population and to eradicate Tree of Heaven.

We host work, education, and recognition events

Our events are opportunities to learn about the ecological issues in our community and carry out projects that support native plant populations. We host workdays, field trips, the annual Garden Walk, and an annual members’ meeting, where we recognize residents’ stewardship of their own properties.

We provide learning resources

We have created multiple ways to learn about the unique ecology of the Indiana dunes. Visit the Bob Beglin Memorial Garden, use our plant app, read our book of dune plants, borrow tools, get help from an expert, and more.

Join us!

We need your support (and labor). Please join the ERG to support our essential work of restoring balance in our local environment. Members can participate in ERG educational classes and workdays, attend the annual meeting, and vote for and serve on the board and working committees of the ERG.

Members can receive expert advice on native plants for their property. Please support and participate in the ERG.
